This Month on the Rival: PRIDE

The entire month of June, The Rival American will be focusing its content on highlighting the BIPOC LGBTQ+ community. We wanted to create a playlist to accompany such an important month, featuring artists such as Frank Ocean, Big Freedia, and Young M.A.
Pride month has been a way for LGBTQ+ people across the world to celebrate their sexuality and be heard, however BIPOC within the community are frequently lost in the background and pushed to the side. With the protests surrounding the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and hundreds of other Black Americans, we wanted to create a playlist full of incredible BIPOC artists who are also part of the LGBTQ+ community. From the high energy Bounce beats of Le1f to iconic ragtime tunes by pioneer Gladys Bentley, we wanted to highlight the beautiful music of BIPOC LGBTQ+ artists across music history.
