Your 2020 Halloween Costume Guide

It’s easy to forget that Halloween is approaching, be that because it’s currently 78 degrees in the middle of October or because the world is on fire. But you can’t let the apocalypse stop you from donning the best costume of 2020! Maybe you’re staying in your apartment with your roommates who got scammed into a lease, or maybe you’re just hanging out with your parents for the 224th consecutive day. It doesn’t matter, either way, you deserve to look cute this Halloween, and these costumes are guaranteed to get you some looks.

1. Fly on Pence’s head

This one’s pretty obvious and is perfect if you really want to steal the show and be the center of attention on Halloween. You really don’t need to try too hard with this costume. Find yourself a pair of wings and a nice little groutfit with grey PPE and take in the fame and attention you’ll be receiving all night.

2. Postal worker

The recent controversy surrounding mail-in ballots has shown us that it is more important now than ever to protect the United States Postal Service. One way that the USPS has been fundraising is by selling merch on their website. From tote bags to t-shirts, you can represent our mailing system with drip that is simply unmatched by competitors like FedEx or UPS. But what you might find most pertinent on their website is their signature postal worker uniform that you too can own and wear this Halloween along with a dog sized costume too for your quarantine furry foster. Pair this with your own blue disposable mask and you’re set. So head on over to the USPS website! Don’t forget to wrap your package, and as always, protect democracy.

3. Tiger King

It’s hard to believe that Netflix released Tiger Kingjust seven months ago.t Joe Exotic and Carol Baskin definitely shaped the beginning of quarantine and they deserve a bit of recognition for that. If you happen to be a part of the population that got convinced by TikTok to get a mullet during this pandemic, you’re in luck. To be Joe, the only other things you’ll need are some skinny jeans, an animal print shirt, and a self sabotaging desire to be liked. Easy enough! Carol Baskin is pretty simple too, just grab that flower crown you bought from Claires in 2014, pair it with wide leg pants, birkenstock and the animal-printed mask of your choosing. Bonus points if you own a cat (or have a mysteriously missing husband).

4. TikTok Star

I’ve spent a lot of time on this app since everything shut down and I think I’ve got this whole TikTok thing down to a formula:

Low rise jeans +crop top + two bleached strands of hair = star.

Seems easy enough right? If you can get through the concept of wearing low rise jeans, you should be fine! Of course you should take a sharpie to your favorite mask so you can plug your social media accounts too. Just make sure you have a few key dances down. I’m not talking about the renegade, that’s old news. At the drop of a hat you should be pulling out the slow motion walk, a diss track on Bryce Hall, and basically whatever Charli D’Amelio has posted in the last 20 minutes.

5. Among Us

Among Us has recently taken over many of our lives, so it’s only fair we pay some tribute to the game that has us calling our parents and roommates “sus.” There’s not too much going on with this costume, but if you own a solid colored jumpsuit or onesie and one of those blue disposable masks, you’d be missing out not doing this. With enough creativity and skill, you may even get a shoutout from Among Us MVP Congresswoman A.O.C!

No matter what you choose, remember to stay safe. We’ll all be needing an escape from whatever comes of November 3rd, so log off of CNN and have yourself a Zoom Halloween party to show off your 2020 themed fits.  And now that you can’t go Embassy Row trick-or-treating, just eat the whole bag of candy from CVS. Go ahead. Here’s your sign.
