The Greek God Parentage of Iconic Survivor Players

I know I’m not the only one who has watched a disgusting amount of Survivor during the pandemic. It is the perfect show - a little drama, a little comedy, a little suspense, competition, and crazy obstacle courses. Here’s a list of 10 iconic Survivor players and who their Greek God/Goddess parent would be. I will fully admit that I am basing about 80% of this off of the depiction of the Greek Gods in the Percy Jackson series. This may contain spoilers.

Kim Spradlin-Wolfe - Athena

Always one step ahead of the others, and an absolute challenge beast. Kim is allergic to losing. She is definitely a child of the goddess of wisdom.

Coach - Zeus

Zeus has two sides to him, and Coach does not fall into the likable side. Like Coach, Zeus can be arrogant and controlling. Coach manipulated his tribemates through religion and became a power-hungry player. Not a fan.

Tony Vlachos - Hermes

Tony relied on secrets and spreading messages like Hermes - although, Hermes probably didn’t hide in a tree to spy on people at the water well.

Tyson Apostol - Hermes

Quite the trickster, Tyson conned people into believing he was hurt so he could relax, and he snuck around drinking coconuts behind everyone’s back. Definitely a Hermes move.

Sandra Diaz-Twine - Zeus

Sandra represents the likable side of Zeus. She wields absolute power, and people respect that power.

Russel Hantz - Ares

Angry, hot-headed, weirdly aggressive, and a little too horny… yep, that’s Ares.

Boston Rob - Hephaestus

The king of shelter building and puzzles, Boston Rob carries Hephaestus’s traits of handiness and resourcefulness.

Parvati Shallow - Aphrodite

I mean, c’mon. I can’t even count the number of fools that Parvati played on Survivor. Queen of the giggle and hair flip. An inspiration.

Ozzy Lusth - Poseidon

Sometimes watching Ozzy compete made me nervous because I don’t understand how someone could be underwater for as long as he is during challenges. Must be the seaweed.

Cirie Fields - Hestia

Loveable and kind, Cirie would make me feel at home if I were on her tribe.

Well, there you have it. If the Percy Jackson series taught me anything, it’s how to psychoanalyze people I don’t know to find out their place in Greek mythology. With Survivor season 41 officially in production, I’m excited to continue this research.
